Abstract

Any researcher in the field of Social Sciences tries to explain the reality by conducting a study on a certain phenomenon. However, the researcher usually faces many difficulties due to the large size of community large size of society, and to ensure an accurate representation, field research is a must. Here, the biggest obstacle is overcoming the inability to question all individuals, resorting to the method of sampling, which in its turn imposes the use of statistical methods that help achieve the optimal selection of individuals and the precise portrayal of the characteristics of society with the possibility of generalizing the results. A set of scientific and statistical steps that we will review in our study to highlight the most important stages that the researcher resorted to by determining the size of the sample and choosing not only the best method for selecting this sample, but also the most suitable research type.
